Making lunch together on Tuesday (v)

What are you going to do?

You'll be working with a woman who's about to integrate into the community, preparing lunch for Ons Huis participants and staff. There will be a maximum of 15 people. Together, you'll create a healthy, budget-friendly lunch. You'll do the grocery shopping and prepare the lunch. After preparing the meal, you'll ensure the kitchen is tidy and clean. You'll be the bridge between Ons Huis and this woman. You'll be the point of contact for Ons Huis, and along the way, you'll teach her about the Dutch workplace.

With whom?

The lady is having a harder time learning the language. She's on the waiting list for language lessons. She is, however, very adept with Google Translate. She's a friendly woman and a good cook. Volunteering together makes her enjoy the work. This way, she's already learning about Dutch work culture and being in a Dutch-speaking environment.

When?

On Tuesdays from 9:15 AM to 12:30 PM. This involves 3 (or 4) Tuesdays per month. On the first Tuesday of the month, lunch is provided by another volunteer. She has a young daughter whom she takes to daycare around 9:00 AM and picks up again at 12:45 PM. She is on the waiting list for language lessons. We estimate this to be a three-month period.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a woman who can work on Tuesday mornings. You're a good communicator and very patient. You can keep up with others at their pace. You're not discouraged by slow language development.

For questions about the work itself, you can contact the Ons Huis coordinator. For questions about supporting refugees, you can always contact the Refugee Support Supervisor. You'll also have meetings with your fellow volunteers to share experiences. Before you start, you'll participate in a training session with Refugee Support. This will ensure you're well-prepared.
