Did you know that there is a butterfly in the Netherlands that does not live anywhere else in the world? And that carnivorous plants also live in our nature reserves? Nature in the Netherlands is more beautiful and diverse than most people think. And there is a lot to discover. We challenge you to set up a YouTube channel that shows this diversity. With videos about all kinds of cool plants and animals, from squirrels to burnet blues. How do you recognize them? How do they live? What do we know about them?

You can go out with our experts to visualize this as well as possible. And especially for the young people who are already doing voluntary work at TypesNL, we are going to organize a monthly activity.

You will be offered all kinds of workshops such as nature filming and video editing, but of course you also go outside to film animals and plants! Do you accept the challenge?

In short your commitment:

• You consider which species you would like to portray and how

• You go to the locations where these species live and make a video

• You work closely with the various species organizations within SoortsNL

In short your impact:

Thanks to the YouTube channel with your videos, our reach on the socials is considerably increased. Young people with an interest in nature can use easy entry-level films to see which species groups they like and what they can do themselves. With the regularly recurring youth activity we hope to give young people a moment together, exchange experiences and make contacts. Our researchers and protectors of the future!

When?

You start February 27 and end July 3 with a national day. The traineeship takes place every Tuesday at a different location in Wageningen or Nijmegen, if the COVID-19 measures then apply, it can also take place partly online.

What do we offer?

The Green Traineeship gives you

• a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience at various national project organizations with a great deal of knowledge and experience of species;
• professional guidance;
• work together with a group of 7 to 10 trainees
• relevant training courses and workshops (Online course Nature Filming, online course Adobe Premiere Pro - how to edit a video)
• an upgrade of your network;
• a training on species recognition. This can be anything within SpeciesNL: grasshoppers, moths or mushrooms… you can indicate your preference.
• running with field workers;
• various digital aids for filming, such as a good microphone, a mobile tripod and a number of special lenses for mobile phones;
• the ability to turn ideas into action;
• a travel allowance.
