Henk has an intellectual disability. He really enjoys 1 on 1 moments.
Who is Henk?
Henk is a 75-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability, comparable to the level of a 2-year-old.
Henk is often cheerful and enjoys singing into the microphone, painting his nails, dancing, coloring, watching TV, doing crafts, but he also likes to go outside to cycle, walk or drink coffee somewhere. He is always enthusiastic about doing something. If he doesn't want something, he will let you know. He walks behind a walker. Henk can talk well, but to understand him you have to get to know him better. In the beginning, Henk always finds the contact a bit exciting, but as he gets to know you better he will communicate with you through gestures or verbal language. His supervisors will tell you about this.
Henk can sometimes (just like everyone else) get angry. He then bites his hand. Fortunately, this does not happen often and there are always supervisors nearby to help.
What does Henk ask?
For Henk we are looking for someone who has the patience to get to know and understand Henk.
Someone with humor who enjoys singing with Henk.
You don't have to be a singer for that! As long as it's fun!
Someone who wants to cycle, walk together, drink coffee somewhere or do something else fun.
It can be done on Friday afternoon, but any other afternoon is possible by arrangement.
The frequency and time are also in consultation.

Thanks to the many volunteers from 'Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and provide personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
