We are looking for volunteers with green fingers to maintain the new large vegetable garden in the historic park of Doornburgh.
We are looking for volunteers with green fingers to maintain the new large vegetable garden in the historic park of Doornburgh.
The new vegetable garden has been laid out in the open ground of the historic landscape park of Buitenplaats Doornburgh. Many fruit trees have already been planted, but now all kinds of vegetables and edible flowers are being added.
The maintenance of a vegetable garden is a daily activity. That is why we are looking for volunteers who like to work together with the manager of the garden.
Tasks are: planting planting material, harvesting vegetables, weeding, sowing and pruning. Occasionally build something such as flat containers, berry constructions, tomato roofs or pods climbing constructions.
Volunteers do not have to be present every day. We prefer to work with a group that has alternating time, and who can occasionally come together for larger jobs or busier periods, such as sowing in the spring and harvesting in the summer. This is done in consultation with the garden manager.
The harvest from the garden will be used by the restaurant of the country estate. We strive for the most sustainable way of maintaining the outdoor space, and that is also reflected in the kitchen. Everything on the menu is seasonal, locally sourced, or better yet, from our own garden. We also want to increase awareness about food among our guests.

Buitenplaats Doornburgh bestaat als sinds 1623 en ligt langs de kronkelende rivier de Vecht. Het is een plek waar kunst, wetenschap en natuur elkaar ontmoeten. Sinds 2018 organiseert en faciliteert Stichting Buitenplaats Doornburgh tentoonstellingen, lezingen, en residenties op het snijvlak van kunst en wetenschap. Wij zijn zo veelzijdig als de mensen die bij ons werken. Zo geven onze vrijwilligers rondleidingen over de historie en architectuur van de buitenplaats. Het onderhoud van het groen wordt verzorgd door een groep betrokken, vrijwillige tuinlieden. Ook zorgen zij voor de varkentjes die jaarlijks ons landgoed komen vervrolijken. Samen streven we naar een duurzame en circulaire toekomst.
