Do you have experience with mental health issues and enjoy helping others with that knowledge? Become a facilitator at Skadi's recovery café!

We are the Recovery Café in Wageningen, and we organize connections among peers based on the concept of recovery. We believe that everyone can recover from a mental health crisis. At the Recovery Café, we offer a space for this, by sharing your own experiences with others in the same situation, sharing tips, and listening. This takes place on Monday afternoons from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Skadi, Olympiaplein 26 in Wageningen.

What are you going to do?

You'll organize the recovery café every Monday afternoon, along with another facilitator. You'll make coffee and tea and offer a warm welcome. You'll guide the discussion, ensuring everyone gets a turn. There will always be two facilitators.

Do you recognize yourself in the following?

  • You support the idea of recovery (that everyone with a mental vulnerability can lead a meaningful life)
  • Ideally, you have client experience in mental health care yourself.
  • You work as an equal, you are not above the group
  • You can look at your own problems from a distance
  • You have room in your head for the problems of others
  • You are familiar with peer support
  • Ideally you already have experience in guiding a group

What makes the work worth doing?

This volunteer work is rewarding. You learn from others in the same situation and develop as a facilitator.

What do we have to offer you?

In addition to collaborating with the other discussion leaders, you can discuss case studies with the experienced project leaders. This is another great learning experience.
