From Zoomkids to Natuurkids!

Children are outside less and less, play more indoors and of course now mainly have online lessons, but that can be different!

Every year, one third of all children in Gelderland are taught in the open air on National Outdoor Lessons Day. In recent years, much attention has been paid to language, math and exercise. In 2021 we will put nature lessons in the spotlights! We provide one hour of nature during the National Outdoor Day during which children actively work on biodiversity in the built environment. We do this together with our local partners such as the IVN school guides and NME staff.

As a trainee you will be teaching outside on this special day at a school in Gelderland. You do this together with an experienced IVN school guide, NME employee or IVN professional. You then continue to work with the practical experience you gain. Together with other green trainees, you make a plan to recruit, train and retain more (young) education volunteers. Ever heard of the pop-up volunteer? We would very much like to strengthen this network of educational volunteers. You work out at least one product for this plan. What kind of product? That's up to you! With the plan that you are making, we will give even more children nature lessons during the Outdoor Lesson Day 2022. And why should we only do that on the National Outdoor Lesson Day?

To guide you in this, you will receive fun training courses on giving outdoor lessons, didactics and scrum (project-based work). In this way you can work as an enthusiastic team to teach children more about nature during the Outdoor Lesson Day.

In short: your commitment

You are going to give outdoor lessons on the National Outdoor Lessons Day and make a plan to strengthen the network of (young) education volunteers. You actually implement part of this plan.

In short: your impact

• You show a young generation of children and experience how nice, special and important nature is.
• You actively contribute to making the National Outdoor Lesson Day bigger and allowing nature to play an important role in it.
• You ensure that more young adults become involved in nature education, in order to teach even more people about nature in the future.

Corona measures:

Of course we would prefer to work together physically during this traineeship. We always take the applicable measures into account. If it is not physically possible due to the corona measures, we can convert the traineeship to digital. So this traineeship can also continue with corona. In addition, we can of course also meet at an outside location to work together instead of at our office in Arnhem.

When?

In 18 weeks, from February 27 to July 3, in 6 hours a week with the Tuesday as a fixed trainee day and with the National Outdoor Lesson Day on Tuesday 13 April 2021! Of course it is possible to work more than 6 hours a week.

IVN office in Arnhem, outdoors and online (if not physically possible).
