Cycling buddies Apeldoorn and Surroundings are looking for bicycle volunteers in the De Maten district
You can enjoy cycling in and around the municipality of Apeldoorn. Unfortunately, access to this beautiful environment is limited for residents who are less mobile. While it is extra nice to go outside, keep moving and be among people.
Fietsmaatjes Apeldoorn en Omstreeken enables anyone who can no longer cycle independently to go out with a cycling buddy (cycling volunteer) on an (electrically assisted) duo bike. Nowadays, duo bikes are often only available to residents of institutions, Fietsmaatjes also makes them accessible to people who still live at home.
We will start this next spring in the De Maten district in Apeldoorn and the village of Ugchelen. In the following years we hope to be able to expand to other neighborhoods and villages.
Who are we looking for?
Cycling volunteers
Do you like being active outside and do you enjoy doing so with someone who can no longer cycle independently? Then register as a Cycling Volunteer!
- You determine the cycling frequency and duration of the bike ride together with your cycling buddy: usually once a week or once every two weeks.
- After an introduction and an instructional ride on the duo bike, you will be paired with a permanent cycling buddy
- You make your own cycling arrangements with your cycling buddy and reserve the duo bike in the reservation schedule
- You get the duo bike from the shed in your neighborhood/village and then cycle to your cycling buddy
- You take a bike ride together and determine the destination together and whether you will take a break with a picnic or a terrace along the way
- You are part of a team of cycling volunteers who exchange experiences with each other and you can contact the coordinator if you have any questions
What do we have to offer?
An enthusiastic team. Setting up something new together gives you energy! Moreover, we do not reinvent the wheel ourselves, but were helped on our way with the starter package from Fietsmaatjes.nl. As a result, we have a sound working method that provides our volunteers with guidance and guarantees careful handling of our cycling buddies. Finally, we organize volunteer meetings 1-2 times a year for information, exchange of experiences and fun.
