Summary

Our group of people with intellectual disabilities really enjoy having 1 on 1 moments with volunteers.

Detailed description

Who are we?

We are a group of 6 women between 40 and 80 years old with a moderate to mild intellectual disability. This can be compared to the level of a toddler to primary school age. Our home is located in the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo, where they receive 24-hour care. The emphasis of this group is on intensive guidance. Verbal and physical aggression occurs. The supervisors are responsible for this. A volunteer will never go out with someone for whom this is not possible. A number of clients work from their home during the day and collect plastic and glass from other homes. This always under supervision. But they enjoy doing 1-on-1 activities even more. Cycle together on the duo bike, drink coffee at our Brasserie, do crafts, go to the Intratuin, enjoy a nice nap, etc.

Unfortunately, the supervisors do not often have the opportunity because they have to be there for the entire group.

The clients really appreciate these kinds of 1-on-1 moments and let them know depending on their mood.

All clients are mobile.

Would you like to come and meet us?

What do we ask?

We are looking for one or more volunteers (duos are also very welcome!) who can support us by doing fun activities. This does not have to be a fixed day. It can be done both during the week and at the weekend.

This could be an hour, but also a few hours.

Someone who has pleasant contact moments with 1 or more clients. A quick ride on the duo bike, a walk through our residential care park, to the Intratuin, etc. Someone who stands firmly in his shoes, given the guidance needs of our clients. A lot is possible in consultation and we greatly appreciate it if there are volunteers who want to contribute to our group!

We offer you

  • A nice volunteer place
  • An end-of-year gift
  • Insured for third party liability and accidents
  • Travel allowance
  • Annual volunteer party as a thank you for your efforts
  • Possibility of training and information meetings
  • Involved contribution to clients
  • Full appreciation and a priceless experience

Organization information

Within 's Heeren Loo, the efforts of volunteers are valuable. They contribute to a meaningful existence for people with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to the many volunteers from 'Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and provide personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
