Summary
Uzeyir is a 64-year-old Turkish man with a moderate intellectual disability. He enjoys cycling together on the tandem bike.Detailed description
Who is Uzeyir?
Uzeyir is a 64-year-old Turkish man with a moderate intellectual disability. This is comparable to the age of a toddler. He lives in a group home at the 's Heeren Loo residential care park, where he receives 24-hour care. He speaks reasonable Dutch, but can sometimes be a bit difficult to understand. When we speak calmly and in short sentences, he understands us well at his level. Uzeyir enjoys being outdoors, especially on his tandem bike. He is very sociable and likes to greet everyone he meets. He loves company! Socializing also includes a cup of coffee and a cigarette. During the day, he attends day care at the residential care park. Unfortunately, he suffers from COPD, which frequently causes shortness of breath and coughs. He takes medication for this.
What does Uzeyir ask?
We're looking for a volunteer to join Uzeyir for a ride on our tandem bike once a month. Having a cup of coffee afterward would be perfect. Perhaps more often if it works out well. The time and day can be arranged with his supervisor. Preferably a male volunteer, someone who can guide him when needed. Someone who enjoys the joy of it!
