Summary

Marcel has an intellectual disability and needs a buddy, but he is not the easiest person!

Detailed description

Who is Marcel?

Marcel is a 56-year-old man with a moderate intellectual disability. He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo where he receives 24 hours of intensive guidance. He has a sense of humor. He can be verbally overestimated due to his assertiveness, but is emotionally at the level of a 3-year-old. He is insecure and anxious and has significant attachment problems, which causes him to attract and repel people. Marcel cannot empathize with someone else's feelings. Within the group, Marcel is easily overstimulated and constantly looks for overview and safety. As a result, he can sometimes show a threatening attitude, swear, use coarse language, go his own way or make claims. Once reassured, the anger is over. All this as a cry for help from powerlessness. Marcel loves Ajax and music. He knows all about the Golden Earing. He also finds other pictures from the past very interesting. He often knows exactly which song it is and which artist is singing it. Marcel enjoys going to our Brasserie at the residential care park or to the Intratuin. He has his own woodshed in the garden, where he saws wood and then sells it. Because his mobility is getting worse, he needs help from his supervisor. He can walk, but slowly and not too far. He also becomes a bit forgetful. With his sense of humor he is a good company when relaxing!

What is Marcel asking?

We are looking for a man who stands firmly on his feet for Marcel! A strong character with a sense of humor.

A man who is not afraid to be approached negatively by Marcel.

Of course, as a volunteer you will be properly trained and given tools.

Preferably on a weekday in the afternoon or early evening.

Someone who comes to visit him and can give him 1 on 1 attention.

Listen to old music together, chat about football, go to our Brasserie or to the Intratuin or something else.

The frequency, day and time are all discussed in consultation.

Will you take up this challenge? And will you become Marcel's buddy?

We offer you

  • A nice volunteer place
  • An end-of-year gift
  • Insured for third party liability and accidents
  • Travel allowance
  • Annual volunteer party as a thank you for your efforts
  • Possibility of training and information meetings
  • Involved contribution to clients
  • Full appreciation and a priceless experience
