Who is Eppo?
Eppo is a cheerful man of 48 years old. He has an intellectual disability that puts him at about the level of a 5-year-old. He likes to be nicely dressed and excels at household chores. This is also what he mainly does during the week during his daytime activities. Eppo is friendly and helpful towards other people. He does not see himself as a man with a disability and sometimes overestimates himself. He likes to help cook dinner, he likes to dance and sing (preferably to music by Madonna), he likes to go shopping, and he likes to cycle and walk. In short, enjoy the little things in life.
He lives in a residential group in a residential area in Apeldoorn. His family is very involved and would like to meet the new volunteer.
He has Fragile X syndrome, we are happy to explain something about this if you are interested.
What is Eppo asking?
Of course Eppo is looking for someone he can click with, someone who comes especially for him once or twice a month. He would like to ride public transport with you, do the shopping and cooking together; at your home or at the group, go for a bike ride together and then have a drink somewhere. It would also be nice if you could think about what else you could do together. His regular day off is Thursday afternoon, but because of the corona he is free all day on Wednesday. He could also meet on weekends. It would be nice if this became a regular day. This is in consultation with his guidance.
Eppo is good at remembering appointments, so it is good if the volunteer keeps his appointments.
He does not like to be corrected and needs someone who can explain in peace why it was necessary.

Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
