Who is Truus?

Truus is a woman from 1958 with a severe intellectual disability. She mainly communicates non-verbally. The words she uses are understandable for her acquaintances, but not yet for strangers. She can manage reasonably well with the ADL, but needs help with tying laces and the zipper. She likes to be active, likes to listen to music and likes to walk.

What is Truus asking?

Truus is looking for someone who wants to walk with her. This can be on the grounds of 's Heeren Loo or beyond. The person must have an affinity with people with disabilities and be mobile enough to take a nice walk. Preferably on the weekend, because that's when she has the most free time. In consultation with the supervisors, this can be once a week, for 2 weeks or per month.

Within 's Heeren Loo, the efforts of volunteers are valuable. They contribute to a meaningful life for people with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to the many volunteers of 's Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and fulfill personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
