Detailed description
The aim is to provide children in groups 3 to 8 with a better knowledge of the Dutch language. Dutch is the most important subject, certainly in a neighborhood where Dutch is often the second language. For children, practicing reading and for those who stay behind is of great importance. Stimulating reading pleasure is enormously important for language development.
What happens after your registration?
You are invited for an introductory meeting. After the interview you know what is expected of you. If you want to get started, we request two references. After receiving these references, we will introduce you to a school of your choice. The school is responsible for applying for a Certificate of Good Behavior (VOG).
Method
It is intended that you be used as a reading guide in the morning or in the afternoon. You read weekly with students in small groups of up to four children. You often read with two (or more) groups one after the other in the context of level reading (technical and reading comprehension). It is also possible that you individually read 15 to 20 minutes with students. Sometimes the reading supervisor is asked to read to a group of preschool children.
Someone who signs up as a reading guide also has responsibility. You get a collaboration agreement. You commit yourself at least for the current school year. After all, you are counted on.
Support
The support is in the hands of the Gilde Amsterdam reading support team. You should first discuss potential problems with the teacher and / or the contact person at school.
True
Throughout Amsterdam, not neighborhood-specific.
