Summary
Is taal zeg maar echt jouw ding? Heb je beperkt tijd, maar wil je je toch graag inzetten voor vluchtelingen? Word taalcoach!Detailed description
Is language really your thing? Do you have limited time, but would you still like to work for refugees? Are you curious and would you like to get to know a different culture yourself? Become a language coach! During the Civic Integration Course of the non-native speaker you will come to the student's home for 1 to 2 hours once a week or go out with him or her. You practice the Dutch language together and exchange information about Dutch society.
Job description:
The non-native speaker follows an Civic Integration Course. The language coaching is a tailor-made addition to the lessons. During one-on-one contact, there is a lot of space for practicing speaking and listening. As a language coach, we will match you with a refugee based on both of your preferences. You usually meet at the other-speaking person's home, but it is also possible in the library or in a store to go shopping together. The language coaching is aimed at learning how to function in the practice of Dutch society. In addition to the language, you are also involved in transferring knowledge about Dutch society. This not only improves Dutch, but you also increase self-reliance.Job requirements:
As a language coach you work independently. You need a certain amount of flexibility and patience. And you are open to other cultures and deal with cultural differences in a respectful way. We prefer that you are available for at least one year for two hours a week. We require a Certificate of Good Conduct from all our employees. What do you have to offer the volunteer ?:
Many volunteers experience language coaching as educational for both parties. We offer you a stimulating and challenging work environment with room for your own development and plenty of opportunities to learn more about other cultures. All volunteers work under the supervision of a professional. The Council for Refugees East Netherlands offers an induction program including one-day language training. You will also receive a travel or expense allowance. What makes the work worthwhile ?:
"I also find it fascinating to hear about their part of the world, about their country, about what they have been through. You read about it in the newspaper, but it is different when you hear it from them personally. I learn from this too, I do this work not only for them, but also for myself. ' says Jelly.
