On November 18, 2023, we attended the Southern Region Pre-COP 28 Joint Children, Youth, and CSO's Summit organized by ISONEC, Malawi National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC), and World Vision. This event was part of the broader Pre-COP28 Joint Children, Youth, and CSOs Climate Justice Summit, which aimed to provide a platform for children, youth, and CSOs to engage directly with the government on Malawi's position towards COP28 and beyond. It emphasized the need for urgent and ambitious climate action and addressing climate injustices and inequalities.
The summit brought together around 250 participants, including children, youth, CSOs, traditional leaders, media, lead farmers, and faith leaders. The theme was “Nurturing Hope in the Face of Climate Loss and Damage
