Museum Cleaning

Mopping or vacuuming just like that is not possible in a museum. One wrong move or method and a valuable work of art is damaged. We are therefore looking for cleaning employees specifically focused on museum cleaning.

For this position we are looking for careful volunteers with cleaning experience. Under supervision, we work according to a 'housekeeping' protocol for regular weekly and museum cleaning. Availability at least 4 hours a week on weekdays (Wednesday and Thursday).

Gradually, new volunteers learn more about safe and responsible cleaning in areas with art treasures. Our volunteers have to pay attention and be able to deal with, for example, the humidity to be maintained, glass display cases full of greasy fingerprints and different types of finishing materials and floors. In addition, personal care and behavior towards visitors play a major role within the Slot.

Day(s) and half-days:

Wednesday and Thursday morning: 3.5 hours.

General:

All volunteers are entitled to a 50% discount in the cafe when they work a shift. Outside of that, the volunteers are entitled to a 10% discount in the cafe. This also applies to introductions. In the museum shop, volunteers are entitled to a 20% discount on all shop items. The following is organized every year for all volunteers: a trip to a cultural-historical location in early autumn, a barbecue in June (provided by the Friends of Slot Zuylen Association) and an end-of-year dinner in November/December.

Induction method and guidance:

One of our team members puts together an introductory trajectory and you gradually get to know the lock and the work.

Expenses:

A rate of €4.50 applies for museum cleaning (maximum volunteer fee).
