Wanted: Leaders for Herenboerderij Wageningen
Producing sustainable food locally! That's what we want. That is why we are working on a Herenboerderij in the vicinity of Wageningen. We are looking for reinforcement of our driving force group with 2 or 3 people. Do you have experience as an entrepreneur, lawyer, treasurer or another talent and a good dose of enthusiasm? Then contact us!
Mansion Farm
Herenboeren is a growing citizen movement that demonstrates that the production of our daily food can be done differently, better and above all more sustainable. The Herenboeren Nederland Foundation supports local initiatives (see also the Herenboeren Nederland website).
They also train and guide the farmer. The farmer is employed. Since the summer of 2021, there has been a 'leader's group' that aims to set up a gentleman's farm in the vicinity of Wageningen. We see great opportunities for this Wageningen cooperative farm that citizens share ownership of their own farm. The farmer produces in consultation with the members.
Leaders' group
As soon as 150-200 families have become members and 15-20 hectares of land have been found, a cooperative is established and a farmer is sought. Then the manor farm can really start. The driving force group takes care of the entire process from the search for land and members and the establishment of the cooperative. From the experience of Herenboeren Nederland, this can happen quickly (within a year), but it can also take a few years. We therefore ask of you as the initiator:
- Perseverance, entrepreneurial spirit because the process will go through trial and error.
- Enthusiasm, because it is volunteer work for everyone and good company is half the battle.
- Deployment of 0.5 day a week…but of course that is never completely evenly distributed.
- Taken note of the Herenboeren concept and also support it, so that we no longer have to discuss it.
- We are looking for people with financial insight, entrepreneurial blood and/or legal knowledge for the team.
