Employees of the De Herberg Drop-in Center (for Tuesday afternoons)

From Sunday to Friday, the De Herberg drop-in center is open every afternoon from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. This drop-in center is run by the De Herberg Apeldoorn Foundation, which supports people who are at odds with society.

As a drop-in center staff member, you'll provide a warm welcome to visitors, offering them a friendly and listening ear. Before the doors open, you and two other staff members will ensure tea and coffee are ready. You'll serve this during opening hours, along with bread, which visitors can request. On Tuesday and Friday afternoons, soup is also available, and you'll assist the soup cook with serving it. Besides serving food and drinks, there's usually plenty of opportunity to chat with visitors or play a game, for example. We consider this interaction the most important part of what we do.

After closing the doors, you and your staff will ensure that everything is tidy.

The drop-in center's visitors are very diverse. What they all have in common is that they come to meet (each other) and enjoy the company. Most also share the same belief that life isn't always easy and they face challenges in various areas of their lives. We believe it's important that everyone is welcome and valued as a person. Circumstances don't change that.

In terms of availability, we require a minimum commitment of two Tuesday afternoons per month, so that we can build a bond with visitors and your colleagues.
