Volunteer Read Through Express

Going together for language fun: become a volunteer at the DoorleesExpress!

The DoorleesExpress is for families with children aged 8 to 12 who have a language delay. Children who can already read, but actually don't like it at all. Children who have difficulty with language and therefore cannot keep up well at school. Or children of parents who find it difficult to support them because they themselves have difficulty with language. In short, children who could use some extra help there.

If you want to show these children and experience how much fun it is to work with language, become a volunteer at the DoorleesExpress.

What does a Read Through volunteer do?

You will work at a family's home twenty times for one hour a week. Together with the child you will look for different ways to work with language. That could be reading, but perhaps gaming, language games, designing or building something are a better way to discover what you can do with language. By taking those interests or talents as a starting point, you are more likely to enjoy language more - and that is the goal of the DoorleesExpress. You will also investigate together with the parents how they can best stimulate, support and help their child.

Make a difference and let children see and experience how much fun language is

As a volunteer at the DoorleesExpress you can really make a difference in those families where children and/or their parents could use some extra help.

Something for you? Then respond quickly! We will start in February 2024 and are looking for at least ten volunteers who will be deployed to one or more families in Apeldoorn.
