Activities

Staatsbosbeheer has an education program in nature reserve Almeerderhout: NatuurWijs . The program involves the children, and through them also their parents, at the Almeerderhout. They discover the area through various experiences and learn about the origin of this new country. The assignments have different methods, such as self-discovery, group forms, sport and play. For the implementation of this program we need enthusiastic volunteers as a supervisor. & Nbsp;

After the forester has a date agreed with a primary school, you receive as a volunteer the children in the visitor center of Staatsbosbeheer on Stadslandgoed De Kemphaan. You take the children into the forest and introduce them to the fight against the water and how the forest is now developing. You stimulate the children to carry out the assignments in nature.

Where is it?

The city forests around Almere only reveal their secrets when you walk in the middle of it. Then you forget that this is Flevoland. The rustling poplars, the rustling bushes. The open forest meadows with grazing deer. The forest therefore seems much older than it is. Twenty-year-old trees look as if they are at least a century old. Around 2050 the oaks and beeches in the polder forests will have become majestic forest giants.

What do we ask of you?

You have experience and / or affinity with guiding primary school children in the age of 8 to 12 years. You like to go out with a small group of children in nature and prefer to experience nature yourself. You can work well together and are willing to help regularly on a weekday (morning or afternoon), especially in the months of May to October. You are prepared to accompany other programs and excursions / arrangements alongside this program and / or support them during events. These are usually in the holidays and the weekends. You think it's great to wear volunteer clothing from Staatsbosbeheer. At the expense of Staatsbosbeheer, you submit a declaration of good behavior (required when working with children).

What do we offer?

We offer an inspiring work environment in a beautiful nature area, many nice colleagues, enthusiastic children who can offer you a unique experience of nature and close cooperation with the foresters. As a volunteer from Staatsbosbeheer you receive a daily allowance of € 4.50, volunteer clothing, the volunteer magazine Veldpost and a free subscription to the magazine NaarBuiten. There is also a volunteer trip every year.

Of course we will not throw you into the deep. You follow a training with the other volunteers in the spring and summer. Here we explain what the educational program entails, you experience the assignments yourself and you get to know Almeerderhout. You also go to the area with the forester a number of times. You also get to know First Aid. In addition, Staatsbosbeheer provides 4 training sessions on various subjects each year for all volunteers. In addition, as a team from Almeerderhout you meet regularly to discuss team-specific topics.
