Cheerful Hans likes to cycle, but cannot do this alone due to his intellectual disability
Who is Hans?
Hans is a 55-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability and Down syndrome. He functions at a level comparable to that of a toddler. He can talk, but is sometimes difficult to understand. If you know him better, you will learn to understand him better. He is almost always cheerful. He then jumps around and makes happy noises. Hans likes to cycle around our beautiful residential care park on his tricycle and then chooses his own path. He has his own routes and these can be short or long. For safety reasons, he must remain on site. During the day, Hans goes to day care at the residential care park. He also likes to go along to activities that 's Heeren Loo organizes; such as the Christmas market or the arrival of Sinterklaas. Or does he occasionally go on fun outings. He likes to go his own way and therefore needs closeness. If Hans has to do something he doesn't like, he makes this clear. Hans has epilepsy. Of course, Hans' supervisors are happy to tell you about him.
What does Hans ask?
We are looking for a friendly volunteer who can also keep the peace. Someone who wants to cycle with Hans and who goes with him to activities that 's Heeren Loo organizes or takes him to other fun outings. His supervisors are happy to tell you more about him, so that you know what he likes and doesn't like to do. Of course you will be trained to deal with his epilepsy. The time, day and frequency are in consultation. During the week he goes to day care, so he can only go after 6:00 PM. He can also be consulted during the weekend.

Thanks to the many volunteers from 'Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and provide personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
