Summary

Off we go together with Guus; take pictures, go to the Hornbach or have a nice cup of coffee at the Brasserie

Detailed description

Who is Guus?

Guus is a social, sociable and quiet man of 67 years with an intellectual and physical disability.

He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo, where he receives 24-hour care.

Socially and emotionally you can compare Guus with a 7-year-old, but he knows a lot about the world. It's a lot of fun to chat with him, he has a good sense of humor and he has a big heart! He enjoys reading the newspaper and following the news. He loves 80's music, Flodder and residential programs. He follows many YouTube channels on various topics on his tablet. He would really like to take photos at our residential care park or outside of it. This can be done with his camera or phone. He loves digital gadgets. He uses his electric wheelchair, which he operates himself. He is allowed to enter the residential care park unaccompanied, but outside of it he needs guidance. During the week he goes to a day care group where togetherness and fun are paramount. Guus has epilepsy; these are often short attacks of a few seconds. Very rarely, medication must be administered via a nasal spray.

What does Guus ask?

Guus is looking for a nice buddy who comes especially for him. A buddy with whom he can take photos, drink a cup of coffee together in our Brasserie, take a walk together to the Intratuin or the Hornbach or just chat about gadgets or other things. Preferably on the weekend, but during the week is also fun. Guus thinks it is important that the volunteer listens and is not in a hurry. A volunteer with a good sense of humor. And someone who knows something about photography and is digitally handy would be absolutely great. Of course, as a volunteer you will be trained in his epilepsy, but this does not require much. The frequency, day and time are in consultation.
