Marleen is looking for someone who will do small activities with her that she can enjoy so much

Who is Marlene?

Marleen is a young woman of 28 years with a moderate intellectual disability. She has a sense of humor and a great laugh! She can talk and communicate in a normal way. She can get along well, but needs help keeping an overview. She walks well and rides a tricycle or tandem. She wears leg splints for extra stability when walking. She has a limited view that must be taken into account, for example in traffic. Marleen likes to have fun and do fun things together. Marleen lives in a community where the Christian identity is very important.

What is Marlene asking?

She thinks it would be nice to be able to do fun things together with a volunteer. Such as going outside together, having a drink somewhere, cycling on the tandem, running an errand or swimming. She can do every day, but especially Wednesdays and weekends it would be nice for her to do things. She prefers a woman, age doesn't matter. Marleen needs to be able to tell her story to someone. A listening ear is nice, but bringing the subject to the here and now is also important. Someone who can take her mind off things so she can enjoy the here and now. Because of the Christian identity, we ask for someone who is also Christian or at least has respect for this faith.

Organization information

Within 's Heeren Loo, the efforts of volunteers are valuable. They contribute to a meaningful life for people with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to the many volunteers of 's Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and fulfill personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
