Organization information
Within 's Heeren Loo, the efforts of volunteers are valuable. They contribute to a meaningful life for people with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to the many volunteers of 's Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and fulfill personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
Who is Sonia?
Sonia is a 1989 woman with severe multiple disabilities. She is spastic in her left side of the body, which means she is in a wheelchair. Sonia can't speak herself, but she understands a lot of what you're saying. Sonia can drink herself, but this must be indicated.
Sonia is a cheerful and enthusiastic woman, which she shows through certain body movements and sounds. She has a doll (Kiki), this gives her a sense of security.
She can have an epileptic seizure, which manifests itself in a certain way of laughing. For people who don't know Sonia, it can be difficult to distinguish from her real smile. (We expect that this will not cause any problems). There are always people in the house who know her well, who can be called upon for specifics.
What is Sonia asking?
Sonia is looking for someone who likes to take her for a walk, go shopping or go to church on Sundays. There are also regular activities on site or within walking distance. Sonia also likes going here together.
