Detailed description
This vacancy is only suitable for Dutch speakers.
You probably already know ... more than 30,000 children and young people in Amsterdam are overweight or obese. A development that can be seen in several large cities. Amsterdam is doing something about this in a large network of professionals and volunteers, the Amsterdam Approach to Healthy Weight.
Gilde Amsterdam ties in with the project Maatje more for a Maatje less: volunteers guide overweight children from 4 to 16 years in a family context. Will you become one of our buddies for a buddy less? We are looking for volunteers who want to be a buddy / coach for a child with overweight a few hours a week.
Will you become one of our buddies for a buddy less?
As a companion you stand as it were alongside the child and the family with the practical and emotional challenges involved in finding a healthy lifestyle. You also investigate together with the family how the advice of the youth nurse or dietician can be put into practice and together with the child you investigate which sport or activity he or she finds interesting.
Examples of support: Making healthy food together a fun social activity, going to the supermarket together with a nutrition app, offering a listening ear, finding the right sports club together, and so on.
True? In and around the child's immediate environment. At the moment we are particularly active in Amsterdam West and New West in the Bos en Lommer, Slotermeer / Geuzenveld, Osdorp and Slotervaart neighborhoods.
Knowledge and skills:
- a positive attitude
- experience with children
- socially skilled and solution oriented
- be open to different cultures
- good listening and mirroring
- have some experience and knowledge with the computer (mailing, surfing etc.)
What do you get from us?
A (compulsory) basic training of 4 half-days with a final certificate, intervision and theme meetings within our volunteer network.
What we ask
We request a Certificate of Good Behavior (VOG) for the performance of voluntary work. You can request this VOG free of charge from us.
Added value of this volunteer work
You help a child to continue on their own and thus prevent physical and mental problems associated with being overweight.
