Summary

Join us as Videographer at our event on Ending Gender-Based Violence. Capture moments, share stories, and be the voice for change!

Detailed description

Every year, the United Nations Women spotlights the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This annual international campaign kicks off with The International Day for The Elimination of Violence against Women on the 25th of November and runs until Human Rights Day on the 10th of December.

As part of YWCA Kuala Lumpur’s 110th anniversary celebrations and in conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we are organising a UNiTE Walk and Panel Talk to create awareness of a world free from gender-based violence. The UNITE Campaign calls on people everywhere to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls.

We are calling Event Documentation Volunteers to capture the powerful moments and stories during our event. Your role will be instrumental in preserving the impact of this crucial initiative, as we strive to raise awareness, foster solidarity, and inspire positive change.

Role Responsibilities:-

  1. Arrive at YWCA KL, 12, Jalan Hang Jebat, 50150 Kuala Lumpur at 7:30 am to set up.
  2. Interview our selected VTOC Trainees/2-3 Girl guides to ask them how they feel/what they know about the advocacy against Gender based Violence (short video interviews – 2 min videos).
  3. Take a panoramic video of the big group in the carpark capturing the >110 girls.
  4. Capture the Flag off and the UNiTE walk around ChinaTown/Petaling Street area. Go ahead of the walkers to capture them walking.
  5. After the walk, join us for Light Refreshments (let us know if you are vegetarian).
  6. Capture highlights of the Panel Discussion (3 speakers) in the YWCA KL Hall.
  7. Take photos of the closing + indoor Group photo (near stage with backdrop).
  8. Upload the short videos to the YKL drive.
  9. Create the event reel within 2 weeks (max 4mins).

Benefits:-

  • Light Refreshments after the UNiTE walk
  • UNiTE wristband if you join our walk
  • Certificate of Appreciation - Furnish us with your full name

Join us to help document the event movement that speaks volumes against gender-based violence. Together, let's make every step count towards a safer and more inclusive world for all!

About YWCA KL - Young Women's Christian Association of Kuala Lumpur

The YWCA of Kuala Lumpur was established in 1913. We work for the development of women and girls irrespective of race, religion, culture, language and socio-economic circumstances to: 1) Help them to recognise that they are of equal value with the potential to contribute to society, 2) Enable them to achieve self-determination and self-reliance in all areas of life, 3) Motivate and enable them to achieve their full potential physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and 4) Develop their leadership and moral courage to take responsible action towards improving their status

In 1998, the YWCA Kuala Lumpur set up the Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) to provide much needed skills training for underprivileged young women and girls from economically disadvantaged families. In 2023, they started working towards creating a community garden known as the Oasis in their backyard as a contribution towards greening downtown KL.
