Support undocumented refugees at Refugee Shelter

At Vluchteling onder Dak (Refugee Shelter) in Wageningen, we support people without residency status who are temporarily denied shelter or care. They are often in extremely vulnerable situations. In addition to practical help, we also offer personal support, and for this, we are looking for a dedicated volunteer with a background in psychology.

What are you going to do?

As a volunteer psychologist, you offer a listening ear and mental support to people without a residence permit. You help them cope with stress, uncertainty, trauma, and isolation. Your work may include:

• Conducting supportive conversations
• Identifying mental health issues
• Providing tools for daily life
• Advising the coordinator and other volunteers on psychosocial questions
• If necessary, refer to appropriate care (if possible)

We will agree on the nature and frequency of the conversations together, depending on your availability and the assistance you require.

What are we asking?

• A background and work experience as a psychologist or therapist
• Affinity with refugees and/or people in a vulnerable position
• An open, calm and respectful attitude
• Availability of approximately 4-6 hours per month
• Knowledge of trauma or stress-related complaints is an advantage
• Experience with intercultural communication is welcome
