Do you have experience with mental health issues and do you like to help others from that experience? Become a discussion leader at the Herstelcafé!
We are the Herstelcafé in Wageningen and organize contact among fellow sufferers based on the 'recovery idea'. We believe that everyone can recover after a mental breakdown. As a recovery café, we offer space for this. By talking about your own experience with fellow sufferers and giving tips to each other and by listening. This all happens on Friday afternoon from 13:30 to 15:30 in the Huis van de Wijk de Nude. New people are always welcome to drop by without an appointment.
What are you going to do?
Together with another conversation leader, you organize the recovery café every Friday afternoon. You make coffee and tea, buy cookies and provide a warm welcome. Sometimes you prepare a theme conversation, often you guide a conversation that just arises. There are always two of you as conversation leaders.
Do you recognize yourself in the following?
- You support the idea of recovery (that everyone can recover after a mental breakdown)
- You preferably have client experience in mental health care yourself
- You can look at your own problems from a distance
- You have room in your head for the problems of others
- You are familiar with peer support
- Ideally you already have experience in guiding a group
What makes the work worthwhile?
This volunteer work is fulfilling. You learn from other people in the same situation and develop as a discussion leader.
What do we have to offer you?
In addition to working with the other conversation supervisor, you regularly discuss cases with social workers. You also learn from this. You will receive a volunteer contract with Solidez and an end-of-year gift.
