Many in Gelderland are committed to the smooth integration of female newcomers. There is great diversity among this group, from highly educated to young and old, mother, wife, single and from different parts of the world. The Gelderse region now has a number of (informal) initiatives and programs to support these women in their integration into the Netherlands. How do women with refugee backgrounds experience their position in Gelderland? What do they need to find their way in society? What role can municipalities, authorities and volunteers play in this?
During the Making Session Female Newcomers in Gelderland we want to answer these questions with various local and regional stakeholders. At the beginning of the session we share experiences of the female old and newcomers and organizations, in order to arrive at (new) insights. We then work this out together with the participants into concrete solutions.
Two goals:
1) Empowerment of refugee women;
2) Empowerment of the authorities and initiatives by gathering knowledge about what works and what does not work, and then exploring which concrete steps can be taken to improve the position of refugee women in Gelderland.

The session is the eighth of eleven Creative Sessions organized by the Province of Gelderland in 2018 and 2019. The goal is to learn by doing what works, what doesn't work and what still needs to be developed to make integration in Gelderland a success. And to put this into practice with local stakeholders. In een maaksessie delen nieuwkomers en organisaties, die betrokken zijn bij integratie hun kennis en helpen ze een lokaal probleem concreet verder. Actiegericht leren noemen wij dat.
