You cook about 1x every 6 weeks on Thursday for a group of 45 people together with another volunteer. You determine the menu yourself and do the shopping.
We cook every Thursday for a group of 35-45 people with a small budget and singles. We offer them a free meal. From the comments of the guests, we conclude that we now play an important role as a weekly meeting point. We often hear that it is so cozy.
Your input:
It would be nice if you could cook once every six or eight weeks.
You get what they have left over at the food bank on Wednesday around 6 p.m. Then you decide together with the other cook what the menu will be.
On Thursday morning you do the remaining groceries together. In the early afternoon you start cooking and ensure that the meal is ready at 5.30 pm. The challenge is to provide a full meal for a limited budget. We try to cook vegetarian meals regularly.
From 4.30 pm. there is help from handlers and hostesses/gentlemen.
When the guests have left at 6.30 pm, all volunteers eat together and clean up and wash up. At 7:30 p.m. everything is usually ready.
De Drie Ranken has a professional kitchen.
If you have less or no experience, we will of course guide you in the beginning.
And it's nice if you understand Dutch.

We are a group of volunteers who serve a free meal every Thursday in De Drie Ranken (Eglantierlaan 202) to a group of more than 30 people who either have trouble making ends meet or who like to sit at the table with others. Every Thursday there are two cooks and four other volunteers who help. We are looking for a number of cooks for our group who would like to cook for this group once in a while, for example once every six weeks. We ask people who have experience cooking for larger groups if possible or who enjoy cooking and are not afraid to do this for a large group. Our challenge is always to serve a two or three-course meal for a limited amount. The task includes determining the menu, taking into account what we receive from the food bank and doing the (additional) shopping.
The time investment is a big part of Thursday.
We offer: shared meals with the volunteers afterwards, a well-equipped kitchen and an enthusiastic group of volunteers.
