Summary

As a centralist you are an important spider in our web! You answer the phone and decide whether the animal ambulance should go out or not.

Detailed description

Who are we

Animal Ambulance Nederrijn is estimated to be called out more than 3500 times a year to help animals in need in the municipalities of Ede, Renkum, Rhenen, Veenendaal and Wageningen. Our volunteers are ready for this task 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!

The main task of the animal ambulance is to help animals in need. These can be animals from nature, but also found pets. In addition, we drive for owners by appointment to, among other things, a vet, boarding house or groomer.

As a volunteer, you help animals in need. Every day is different: maybe you return a missing cat to its owner, save a bird that was caught in a net, or take a sick dog to the vet. Adventurous, meaningful and rewarding work!

Activities

As a centralist you are an important linchpin in our web!

  • As a centralist you answer the phone and decide whether the animal ambulance should be called out or not, sometimes telephone advice is sufficient
  • The operator makes reports in our digital journey registration system
  • The operator sends the messages to the mobile animal ambulances
  • The operator manages the agenda and schedules appointments
  • When no calls are coming in, the operator is busy with certain administrative tasks
  • Other general tasks for the purpose of generating income

What do we ask?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers, but we do have a number of requirements:

  • Proficiency in the Dutch language must be good
  • You are at least 20 years old
  • You don't mind working weekend shifts occasionally
  • You can handle a smartphone and computer
  • You live in our region (the central post is in Heelsum)

What do we offer?

Of course we have a lot to offer:

  • You work in a team of enthusiastic colleagues
  • You will receive internal training
  • You will receive clothes on loan
  • You are insured and can claim travel expenses reimbursement
  • You can attend all kinds of lectures, courses and training
  • There are plenty of social activities: an annual Christmas gathering; an annual team building with barbecue; an annual New Year's reception and much more!

Time Spent

You have to work at least two shifts a month, otherwise you don't get a feel for the work. The shift times are as follows:

  • 09.00-13.30 (morning service)
  • 13:30-18:00 (afternoon service)
  • 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM (evening service)
  • 22:00-09:00 (sleeping duty)

We are present fifteen minutes before the service starts, because of the handover. Centralists do not work night shifts and in the winter period no evening shifts.
