Do you still have room in your heart, mind and agenda? Are you interested in your fellow man and are you eager to learn? Then we would like to meet you. The Listen Line is looking for volunteers who can help others through a good conversation.
Job description:
The Listen Line has been available day and night for an anonymous, confidential conversation by telephone, chat and e-mail for 60 years. Thanks to 1,500 volunteers across the country. There are more and more people who, looking for a listening ear, are finding their way to the Listening Line. People who don't like it for a while or who simply cannot or dare to tell their story to anyone. Themes such as loneliness, relationship problems and psychological problems are common.Job requirements:
Conversation and listening skills. The skills are trained extensively in the basic training and there is continuous training and supervision.What do you have to offer the volunteer ?:
The work is intensive but enriching.What makes the work worthwhile ?:
You are there for the other for a while by listening, asking questions and organizing thoughts. You help people to look at their problem differently. You bring relief to grief and support people to take the step to help if necessary.Working time:
