Summary

As a ‘Go-along buddy’ you are there for residents who have to go to the hospital or another appointment. You offer a listening ear, company and trust.

Detailed description

Will you become a Come-along buddy ?

Not every resident of Atlant has family or a network that can accompany them to the hospital. And let's be honest: a hospital visit can be quite exciting. Especially if you are a bit forgetful or have difficulty orientating yourself. That is why we are looking for committed volunteers who want to accompany residents to appointments outside the home as a Go-along buddy - especially to the hospital.

What do you do as a Come-along buddy?

As a volunteer, you are there primarily for the resident. You offer company, reassurance and a familiar face. That often makes a world of difference. Sometimes that means sitting together in the waiting room and having a chat. In other cases, you also go inside to the appointment and listen in, so that you can pass on important information to the care workers at the location.

You travel with the taxi bus or with your own Atlant bus, together with a volunteer driver. Depending on the situation, it can be a short visit or a longer part of the day.

What do we expect from you?

  • You enjoy being of service to others.
  • You have a warm heart and can put residents at ease.
  • You can listen well and provide clear information to healthcare workers.
  • You are reliable and like to think along.

Flexible and well organized

This volunteer role is flexible: you decide for yourself whether a request for help fits into your agenda . A volunteer coordinator receives the requests from the various Atlant locations and then coordinates with the available Ga-je-mee buddies . In this way, we ensure good coordination together and keep it fun and clear for you.

You don't need any care experience – your presence, attention and patience are what matter most.

About Atlant

"We give space"
Space is a place, your own environment with everything that goes with it: sound, smell, light, atmosphere, colour, thoughts, your dreams. Space is also an almost infinitely available place, an opportunity, possibilities. It is all that we wish for every person - client, neighbor, volunteer, employee - everyone. We want to give that space: a place to be yourself. With space you can develop yourself, however you want. Exactly what suits you.
