Join OIG and Tri-Sport St. Maarten for the Annual Triathlon, where volunteers will support athletes of all ages with hydration and joint information.
Join the Orthopedics Interest Group as we partner with Tri-Sport SXM for the annual community triathlon in Sint Maarten. Tri-Sport SXM is a local organization that promotes endurance sports, fitness, and healthy living through community athletic events including triathlons, cycling, swimming, and running competitions. During this exciting event, children and adults from across the community will participate in swimming, biking, and running races.
AUC student volunteers will play an important role in supporting athlete safety and wellness throughout the event. Volunteers may assist with distributing water to competitors, kayaking alongside swimmers to support race safety, helping direct athletes along the course, and assisting with event coordination. After the race, volunteers will help provide complimentary Gatorade and share brief educational information with participants about hydration, joint health, injury prevention, and healthy movement.
This is a great opportunity for students to practice health communication skills in a fun, active, and community-centered environment while supporting wellness and physical activity in Sint Maarten.
