The Global Health Interest Group and Surgery Interest Group are seeking volunteers to help educate community members on healthy nutrition choices.
Join the Global Health Interest Group and Surgery Interest Group for a community outreach event in partnership with the Diabetes Foundation of St. Maarten, a local organization dedicated to diabetes awareness, prevention, education, and community health support across Sint Maarten. Volunteers will engage with shoppers at the entrance of Cost-U-Less Grocery Store by teaching community members how to read and better understand nutrition and food labels to support healthier food choices. This is a great opportunity for students to strengthen their communication and public health education skills while promoting health prevention within the community. Community members who participate will receive a free grocery certificate. In addition, some volunteers may assist the Diabetes Foundation team with health screenings and testing activities during the event.
