Dementia affects more and more people. 1 in 5 people develop dementia. There are currently 290,000 people with this disease in the Netherlands. This number is expected to double by 2040. With 48 regional branches, 3,650 volunteers and 22,000 collectors, we are always nearby. Together with volunteers, donors, collectors, researchers, companies and other stakeholders, we are working on a future without dementia and on a better life for people with dementia and their loved ones.

Regional Department:

You will be working at Alzheimer Nederland, Western Utrecht department. We are working hard to make our region dementia friendly. Our volunteers ensure that we support people in the neighbourhood. They represent their interests, provide information and organize meetings to share experiences or get in touch with others.

Your role:

As an Alzheimer Café Coordinator you ensure the continuity and quality of your Alzheimer Cafés. You do this together with a team of committed volunteers. You connect volunteers, visitors and professionals. In addition, you build a relevant network and you raise funds and volunteers for your Alzheimer Cafés. As a member of the working group, you prepare the annual budget together with the board member.

• In terms of time commitment, you can expect an average of approximately 6 – 8 hours per month. This partly depends on the size and composition of the working group.
• Most Alzheimer Cafés have 10 – 12 meetings per year.
• In addition, there are consultations with the working group and sometimes with the other Alzheimer Cafés in the region.

Work is done on Wednesday evenings.

Five evenings a year and a work meeting with the other volunteers a few times a year
