Do you want to contribute to the development of children in Leiden? Are you available a few hours a week? Then sign up as a supervisor of De HuiswerkKamer!
What is De HuiswerkKamer?
The Homework Room offers students from 10 to 15 years a great, stimulating place to do homework, develop talents and expand worlds. - a place in a team where more enthusiastic and skilled supervisors work in a pleasant atmosphere;
- training and peer review;
- a free VOG and possibly a first aid course;
- a volunteer contract, possibly a reimbursement, or a 0-hour contract with student salary.
What are you going to do?
- guide students with their questions about (planning of) homework and learning work;
- start a conversation with students about their talents, goals, dreams and challenges;
- participate in activities that contribute to the broadening of the pupils' living environment.

About Stichting JES Rijnland
"Regardless of the available financial resources, level of education and background, all children must have equal opportunities to develop and to develop fully".
Why does JES exist?
JES wants the talents of children to be fully utilized. We strive for equal opportunities and more equality in society. We want to increase the chances of youth development in Leiden and the region. In particular language development and socio-economic development; regardless of cultural or religious background.
Every child has the right to development. That is what JES stands for.
We think it is important that children:
- grow up in an environment that stimulates them in their development;
- make use of important facilities such as pre-school and early-school education (VVE) and the library;
- be well prepared to start school;
- can be supported and supervised during their school career;
- participate in social, cultural and sporting activities.
What does JES do?
JES thinks from the perspective of opportunities and possibilities and works from the ambition of equality. Professionals, students and volunteers build a bond with a family or a young person. They stand next to the participants and look to the future with them. The demands and needs of parents, children and young people are central.
JES offers a broader perspective on the future and more confidence in equity. Parents receive support and reinforcement in their role as educators and we offer young people support in discovering their interests and talents. By making connections within the Golden Triangle: at home, (before) school and neighborhood, JES wants to make a difference for the future generation. After all: a good home situation and a stimulating, social environment ensure that a child dares to follow his dreams.
How does JES do that?
Professionals, trainees and volunteers give time, space and attention to the participants. Support can consist of individual supervision or participation in group meetings. The JES programs focus on parenthood, upbringing, multilingualism and language and talent development. Each program focuses on a specific goal, whereby the question of the participant is always paramount.
JES uses proven and promising methods developed by universities, colleges and partner organizations. JES ensures the best local applicability.
Cost
JES requires a personal contribution for a number of programs. However, the personal contribution may never be a threshold to participate. If this is the case, we will talk to parents in search of a solution.
