About stichting burgerzin Naarden
On March 11, 1971, the civic foundation Naarden was founded by the municipality of Naarden (now Gooise Meren municipality) with the aim of promoting the sense of community of the citizenry. In the first years of the Foundation's existence, the Garrison stationed in Naarden provided a great deal of assistance in organizing activities for citizens; some one-off (the celebration of Naarden 300 years of Orange Fortress in 1973) and others that are still being organized, such as the Vesting island weeks (now taken over by the Vestingeiland Naarden Foundation), various entries (Sinterklaas and Christmas) and concerts (by choirs and orchestras in the Grote Kerk or in the open air).Nowadays, the civic foundation Naarden mainly has a supporting function. In addition to their own activities (Palm Easter Procession, Sinterklaas Entry and the Christmas Market), the foundation supports local associations and clubs in carrying out their activities. For this purpose the citizen sense foundation has materials available that can be rented out to these institutions and groups, often including technical volunteers from the Light & Sound working group.
