Who are we?

Herman is a client with acquired brain injury. He shows a varying picture with regard to his memory. One moment he can remember something in detail, and the next moment he has immediately lost things that he has been told. He has problems with orientation in time, place and person. He is very self-oriented and often calls on his supervisors.

He is reasonably mobile and uses a walker. His mobility is declining because he is difficult to motivate to move. More exercise would be good for him. Herman would like help with building a kit. It would also be nice if someone wanted to go for a walk with him, go shopping and cycle on a duo bike. There is also a possibility to use a motomed at the physiotherapy department. (bicycle with screen). Herman is very enthusiastic about this.

Herman is a man with a lot of humor once you have won his trust. It is important to take the time to build a relationship with him and not to be disappointed too easily if Herman does not want something.

Within 's Heeren Loo, the efforts of volunteers are valuable. They contribute to a meaningful life for people with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to the many volunteers of 's Heeren Loo, we can organize extra activities and fulfill personal attention and wishes for clients. Think of taking a walk, playing a game or just having a good conversation while enjoying a cup of coffee.
