Become a Volunteer for cooking together with clients

The Salvation Army North Unit is for the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. We offer assistance to homeless people and men and women with problems in the field of independent living. In our work unit more than 350 employees and 90 volunteers help almost 3,000 clients per year.

Huis en Haard Engwierum is meant for people with an addiction and / or psychiatric problem and sometimes LVB problems that can not live independently. Special attention is paid to skills in the field of living, dealing with fellow residents, day-filling and day structure. The counseling is based on the care agreements that are made upon admission.

The care offer may include support for cooking, cleaning and other matters. These activities can be offered in group form.

What are you going to do:

We search someone who likes to cook with clients. Cooking together is aimed at learning skills, some clients find cooking very difficult. As a volunteer you support the clients in learning these skills. In addition, you give ideas for easy, healthy and inexpensive dishes that the clients themselves can make later. The participation of the clients who eat with them varies, this also depends on who participates in the cooking training. This can vary from 2 to 10 clients. We are looking for someone who is available every week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4.30 pm until about 7 pm.
