Wanted drivers and supervisors on the (wheelchair) bus

Can you imagine what it is like to sit at home all day as an elderly person?

Participants of daytime activities de Twijg receive extra support to be able to continue living at home longer and just like you, they also enjoy going out. The need for socializing, eating together and doing something about sports and games is vital for most people. They also have some distance from their partner or carer and come home with fun stories and renewed energy. In addition, the partner and/or caregiver is temporarily relieved and valuable own time is created.

Often participants themselves do not have the opportunity to come to the day care center by their own transport. With our wheelchair bus and a number of enthusiastic driver volunteers, we offer participants the opportunity to participate in the activities. And good news, because there is room for new driver volunteers!

Is driving your second nature and do you like to do something for other people? Do you have a lot of driving experience and do you enjoy working with the elderly? Then we would love it if you contact us. You can really mean something to someone else and meet a lot of new people yourself.

There is always a driver and an attendant on the bus. After a good familiarization period by the other drivers, you will work independently (although in collaboration with a supervisor)

The rides are driven according to a predetermined schedule.

The times are from 8.45-10.15 and in the afternoon from 15.45-17.00

Day(s) and half-days:

Monday to Saturday in the morning and afternoon.

Working hours, frequency and duration:

The rides are run from 8.45am-10.15am and in the afternoon from 3.45pm-5pm. The times for an activity vary and differ per activity. Volunteers are assigned per trip. In consultation you can indicate how much you can/want to drive.

Skills:

Driving is second nature to you. You are patient and calm. You can handle unexpected situations well. You have a lot of driving experience and you are open to the experience of the elderly.

General:

After a positive probationary period, you will receive a volunteer contract. You are insured during your voluntary work. You will receive invitations for training courses and information meetings.

For volunteers with extra guidance: No

Induction method and guidance:

You will be trained by our regular and experienced volunteers.

Schooling:

We offer the course: Dealing with people with dementia. and you get a riding style analysis every two years.
