In the municipality of Stichtse Vecht there is a shortage on the housing market. A waiting period of more than 10 years for social housing is more often the rule than the exception. In addition, we see that many people do not live in a home that suits their needs. For example, we see young families in small starter homes and the elderly alone or in pairs in a large home. Young people are gradually staying longer with their parents.

What does the Housing Coach do?

With a great team of professionals and volunteers, De Wooncoach offers advice and practical support to residents aged 55 and over (in Maarssen, Maarssenbroek and Tienhoven), who live in a large house and want to move to a smaller one.

Some experiences

The first 30 removals with the help of the Wooncoach have now been completed. Some reactions from the people who have been helped by us:

Housing coach and Corona measures

Fortunately, the Wooncoach can continue to guide the elderly with a move during this time with Corona measures. We just do it a little differently. The home and office visits are postponed for a while and we collect and provide as much information as possible by telephone and by post or e-mail so that the guidance can still start.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers who know the municipality of Stichtse Vecht, who have a warm heart and who want to use their organizing talent to help other residents find a perfect home. You do this, among other things, by providing information and advice, thinking along about solutions and discussing possible obstacles to moving.

You will of course receive valuable professional training from us to ensure that you are well prepared. In addition, we offer a volunteer allowance of € 30 per month (for 1 half-day a week).

Working hours, frequency and duration:

The Wooncoach is active on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, whereby we can be reached by telephone for clients in the morning and work by appointment in the afternoon and do the administration. If you want to work on another day, we'll see how we can fill that in together.

Skills:

• Affinity with the target group of the elderly; - To be able to internalize and apply the regulations within the social rental sector and care for the elderly.
• Empathy, the ability to listen well, summarize and ask questions.
• Find out the question behind the question.
• Able to work in Word and limited in Excel (fill-in sheets).

Being able to work independently. Knowledge of public housing and housing distribution or care is not a requirement. You also don't have to be over 55. As a volunteer, you must have an affinity with the subject of living as you get older.

Induction method and guidance:

When you start as a volunteer at the Wooncoach, you first look a few times to discover whether the work suits you. This is partly done in Utrecht. If you want to continue as a volunteer at the Wooncoach, you will receive a training of two half-days and we will show you where you can find all the information. You will then be trained by a professional with experience in working with volunteers.

Training: As a volunteer at the Wooncoach you will receive training of two half-days. In addition, you are constantly kept informed of current developments.

Expense allowance: As a volunteer you receive a volunteer allowance of € 60 per month based on one working day per week. In addition, we sometimes provide a nice gift or a team outing.
