About Wandelen voor Water

Walking for Water is an initiative of Amref Flying doctors, Simavi and ZOA. The aim of our cooperation is to contribute to clean water for everyone in 2030. Then people and children no longer have to walk extremely far to get clean (drinking) water. In this way they can return to work or school and at the same time work towards an independent future. We do this by making pupils in the upper secondary school aware of the shortage of water and by having them raise money for water projects in developing countries in a fun sporting way. Since 2003, Dutch children have raised almost € 12 million for more than 300 projects worldwide. As a result, 510,000 people in developing countries now have clean water nearby. This allows people to focus again on an independent life and children to school instead of having to walk every day for clean water.
