FURTHER DESCRIPTION
For 40 years, observatory employees have been working to bring astronomy to the attention of a wide audience, while at the same time offering amateur astronomers the opportunity to pursue their hobby. Throughout the year, the observatory is open to the public every Friday evening from 7.30 pm. The observatory has a lecture room for 60 people where the visitor can attend a presentation on an astronomical subject. Subjects are as close as possible to current events, such as space projects or celestial phenomena. In clear weather it is also possible to view the moon, stars and/or planets through the large telescope in the observatory. It is also possible to bring your own binoculars to the observatory on a clear Friday evening.
Volunteers wanted for all kinds of support services at the Public Observatory Bussloo. This varies from bar services to public counseling and technical assistance.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Interest in astronomy or knowledge of it is desirable. The activities often take place in the evening, there is a nice team of volunteers (about 15).
