Help a single Syrian young man (26 yrs) to find his way. He will come to Wageningen on 13 January.
He gets a small house in the center and an Arabic interpreter is available. (He also has a friend in Arnhem who can help.)
The rental contract will be signed on January 13: this is also the start of the guidance of about a year and a half.
What are you going to do?
You help him with the paperwork he has to deal with and help him find his way in the municipality. You work towards self-reliance by guiding clients in a coaching way.
The work largely takes place from the office of the Council for Refugees in the municipality. Your duties include: - Guide clients in and around the house and make contacts in the area. - Applications for benefits, furnishing credit, insurances and allowances for clients. - Arranging general practitioner and dentist, education, energy, internet, public transport for clients. - Together look at mail that clients receive in response to all requests. - Explaining institutions, laws and regulations in Dutch society. - Administration of data in the client registration system. - Supporting clients in finding sports and leisure activities The Council for Refugees is looking for volunteers with a higher vocational level of work and thinking, who are willing to commit themselves to at least two half-days per week for a period of at least one year.
Who are we looking for?
- Good communicative skills. - Respectful and patient attitude towards clients. - Flexibility in dealing with unexpected and unknown situations. - Taking responsibility for your tasks, but also being able to indicate your own limits. - Integrity in handling (confidential) information. - Able to work independently and in a team. - Basic knowledge of a foreign language (preferably English). - Good computer skills.
