You help with the paperwork people have to deal with and help them find their way around the municipality.

You work towards self-reliance by guiding clients in a coaching manner.

What are you going to do?

Refugees live in every municipality. Volunteers from the Dutch Council for Refugees support them in their journey to self-reliance and in integrating and participating in Dutch society. As a social worker, you support refugees with residency status who live independently in a municipality.

You'll assist with the paperwork people face and help them navigate the municipality. You'll work towards self-reliance by providing coaching and support to clients. Most of the work will be done from the Refugee Council office in the municipality.

Your duties include: - Helping clients find their way around the home and establishing contacts in the neighborhood. - Applying for benefits, furnishing credit, insurance, and allowances for clients. - Arranging for family and dental care, education, energy, internet, and public transportation for clients. - Reviewing mail received by clients in response to all applications. - Explaining the various agencies, laws, and regulations in Dutch society. - Managing data in the client registration system.

Supporting clients in finding sports and leisure activities. VluchtelingenWerk is looking for volunteers with a higher professional education (HBO) work and thinking level who are willing to commit at least two half-days per week for a period of at least one year.

Who are we looking for?

- Good communication skills. - Respectful and patient with clients. - Flexibility in handling unexpected and unfamiliar situations. - Taking responsibility for your tasks, but also being able to set your own boundaries. - Integrity in handling (confidential) information. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Basic knowledge of a foreign language (preferably English). - Good computer skills.

What do we have to offer you?

- Working in a motivated team of volunteers. - Gaining work experience in a community organization. - Expert guidance from a professional. - Travel and expense reimbursement and insurance during working hours. - Participation in training courses.
