Advocate of asylum seekers and refugees. The AZC Schalkhaar is a reception center where asylum seekers stay awaiting a final decision by the government on their asylum application. In addition, refugees who have just received a residence permit and are awaiting independent accommodation reside here. The voluntary employees of the Eastern Netherlands Council for Refugees provide legal guidance at this center and represent the interests of residents across the board. They also supervise family reunification procedures. \n \nActivities \n \nAs a legal assistant you have an intermediary function between the client and, for example, the legal profession, IND and other authorities. In addition, you provide explanations and information about the state of affairs in their procedure and, where necessary, you discuss the future prospects of the clients. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to guide the clients. You don't need a legal background to do this job. You will be trained in the workplace and you will follow a VWON training program to acquire the necessary knowledge. You have excellent social skills, conversation skills and an interest in the asylum procedure. We are looking for people with a strong personality, who can deal with clients in difficult circumstances and who can work well together in a team. You are prepared to follow special training courses from the Dutch Council for Refugees and are available for at least 8 hours a week.
