Job title:
1-on-1 Conversation Guide
Job description:
A large number of experts are associated with Viore. Some of them, the guides, have individual conversations with visitors. They offer psychosocial support. Our guides are also well informed about the region's social map. They can inform visitors about and point the way to possibilities inside and outside Viore. No treatment is given at Viore; the guides think along with the visitors and help them on their way, for support and as an incentive.
We ask:
At Viore you come into contact with people in the most vulnerable period of their lives. As a guide you are able to give a visitor real attention, to get in contact, to listen without 'filling in yourself' and to reflect on the question that arises. Based on your experience and education, you are familiar with the different techniques of communication psychology. Knowledge of the social map and experience with psycho-oncological care is recommended. You must be able to work independently.
What do we have to offer the volunteer:
As a volunteer you are invaluable to Viore, but we strive to give you something in return. We offer you volunteer work in an informal, warm and friendly atmosphere. You will be involved in our annual team outings and celebrations.
Training method and guidance: You will be introduced to the possibilities within Viore and you will be assigned a buddy (experienced guide) to whom you can go with substantive questions. There are opportunities to further develop through peer review, in-depth training and team building days. The volunteer coordinator conducts an annual evaluation / progress interview with each volunteer.
Working hours:
We ask the guides to make themselves available half a day a week. Agreements about tasks and working hours are laid down in a volunteer agreement and a code of conduct.
If a visitor has made a request for a guide interview, the guide will be approached who best fits the question with his / her background. The guide will make an appointment within the opening hours of Viore.
Who are we?
Viore is a center for people living with cancer (who have cancer, are close or surviving relatives). Viore is open on all working days between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a chat, a listening ear or a cup of coffee. We also organize numerous activities, such as lectures, creative workshops, pilates, discussion groups, yoga, walking with a guide etc.
Visitors can also make an appointment for individual discussions about, for example, regaining balance, cancer within the family and meaning of life and cancer.
