The Hendrick de Keyser Association is looking for a host / hostess for their Huis Bonck on the Binnenluiendijk in Hoorn.
Volunteer in this special 17th century house. At Museum houses, doors literally open for you. Everyone can take a look in the kitchen and other rooms! You will not find 'do not touch' signs in a Museum House. Visitors are allowed to take a seat on the 17th-century chairs, try out the box bed or drink tea in the inner room. The role of the hosts and hostesses Every visitor who enters first encounters the hostess or host. This volunteer is the visiting card of the Association, but also of the house. In this role you receive the visitors, just as you would at home; with a friendly chat and a big smile! You sell a ticket and store coats and bags. You explain how people can best visit the Museum House, explain the use of the audio tour and of course you know the best anecdotes about the house. When visitors leave again, help them with coats and bags and take them off. What do we expect? The Hendrick de Keyser Association is looking for volunteers with good communication and social skills who enjoy working with people. No specific prior knowledge or experience is required, but interest in architecture, the property or the history of the region is desired. You are also living in the region. What do we offer? A special workplace in a beautiful location in Hoorn, at a professional charity, with pleasant other volunteers. You are never alone. The Hendrick de Keyser Association offers a travel allowance. In addition, as a volunteer you will receive a personal access card that gives you access to all Museum houses of the Association and you can participate in an interesting lecture program. During the introductory period you are available for at least a half a day per week. After that, the minimum effort is one half-day every two weeks. The Hendrick de Keyser Association is committed to preserving architecturally or historically important buildings and their interiors. Buildings taken care of by 'Hendrick de Keyser' meet strict requirements. They must be striking examples of the architecture or the living culture of a certain period. History must not only be readable from the outside, but also from the inside. A lot of attention is therefore paid to building historical constructions and the quality of the interior.
The collection, which grows by an average of five to ten buildings per year, includes 421 properties and complexes, including houses, farms, country estates, courtyards, villas, fishermen's houses and town halls, spread over 108 locations throughout the Netherlands.
In 2018, the Hendrick de Keyser Association opened a Museum House on the Binnenluiendijk in Hoorn. This 17th-century merchant house is part of a chain of Museum houses in which visitors can experience 500 years of Dutch residential history.
