We are looking for proactive and passionate volunteers who are committed to support, challenge, and guide aspiring students to achieve their learning goals

The Education Recovery Tutoring Initiative (ERTI) aims to address the learning loss of 600 students from six PPR communities through year-long tutoring. Volunteers can commit to tutoring sessions for a minimum of 10 to 40 weeks. The role is to tutor students in Mathematics, English, or Bahasa Melayu. The students' age group ranges from 7-15 (Primary 1 - Form 3).

  • Create lesson plans according to the prepared curriculum
  • Attend and tutor students in the PPR communities on Saturdays (half-day session)
  • Go through a weekly/bi-weekly check-in with Volunteer Leads to track progress and get support

What will you receive as a Teach For Malaysia Volunteer Tutor?

  • Mentoring support from Volunteer Leads who will guide and coach you throughout your tutoring journey
  • Certificate of appreciation (with at least 80% attendance)
  • A Teach For Malaysia 'Thank You Gift Pack'

  • Refreshments at each session
  • Access to onboarding (training) materials and educational resources (KelasKita education platform by YTL Foundation & FrogAsia)

For your consideration:

  • The onboarding session will be on the 20th of April. Hence, sign up before the 12th of April to get your application passed before the onboarding session.
  • A buddy (family/friend/partner/etc.) can be your co-tutor; simply ask them to fill out the form as well! Choose whether you are volunteering individually or with a buddy.
  • Cash reimbursement for travel expenses is provided at a flat rate of RM10/session

About Teach For Malaysia

Teach For Malaysia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation on a mission to give all children the opportunity to realise their potential through quality education. We partner with the Ministry of Education to reach high-need public schools. We are one of the 61 partners of the prestigious global education network Teach For All and the 2022 Merdeka Award Recipient under the Education & Community Category.

Since 2012, we have been building a transformational movement in the education system by placing the country’s most promising graduates and young professionals as full-time teachers in some of Malaysia’s most high-need schools to combat education inequity through our flagship leadership development programme called the Fellowship. In 2020, we expanded our work as the implementation partner of the 2-year nationwide Program Duta Guru (PDG), training and coaching in-service public school STEM teachers. We are also looking for passionate individuals to make an impact for our local community through our tutoring programme with students from low-cost public housing.

We believe quality education is the most powerful tool for all children to realise their potential and a collective effort is important to achieve our mission.
Join us and become part of our movement to make an impact on the education system in Malaysia.
